GUIDED BY GOD'S SPIRIT
1 Corinthians 2:9-3:4 (ASV) 9 but as it is written, Things which eye saw not, and ear heard not, And which entered not into the heart of man, Whatsoever things God prepared for them that love him. 4 For when one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not men? ================================================================ While Paul makes it clear that only the Spirit of God can tell us about God, not all men can comprehend what the Spirit says. The apostle describes three kinds of men. The first man is "spiritual"; he is a believer who is sensitive to and allows the Spirit to direct his life. The second man is "worldly"; he is a believer, but he is controlled by his sinful appetites and desires rather than by God's Spirit. The third man is "without the Spirit"' he rejects whatever spiritual truth he is exposed to as complete foolishness. As followers of Jesus Christ we possess God's Spirit. That means we can choose to have him direct our thoughts and actions while leading us into spiritual truth. But that's a choice we have to make, combined with prayer for the Spirit's power to do so, throughout every day.
