TO INFORM YOU OF OUR NEED

May 13, 2002

Dear Friends of Outreach Amazon Missions,

Just recently I discovered a special Bible verse
located in II Corinthians 1:10, 11:  “You helped us by
your prayers” (NIV).  We of Flying World Mission Inc.
working on the Amazon wish to keep you informed of all
that is going on with AMA—the Amazonas organization of
FWM Inc.

The river launch is on a longer voyage upriver in
Peru.  There are at least six communities needing
lumber cut for the construction of new church
buildings.  The schedule of church building continues
on and on.  You might find it interesting to learn
that on May 5, a beautifully painted church was
dedicated.  Between 200 to 250 villagers filled this
new church on the Erené.

Far, far up the Rio Amazón, Brother Manasés is
laboring to establish an AMA mission base.  Here at
Iquitos, Peru, we can expand endlessly into the
“selva” to the many indigenous tribes.  We anticipate
reaching the Ecuador frontier with the “Good News” of
the gospel.

Brother Bill and Lydia Chowning are evangelizing
downriver into Brazil.  The obstacles are immense, but
the possibilities are beyond calculation.  The
spreading of the gospel by small Portuguese booklets
is a valuable effort.

Our old “balsa”—or boat house—got demolished in a
midnight storm.  It is necessary to build a new one,
using some of the material from the wrecked one.  This
will cost us in the neighborhood of $3,000.00 U.S.

Once again Jean and I are working on legal papers
within Colombia.  These will cost us $600.00 U.S.  We
are swamped with financial burdens.  However, we are
extremely thankful for every donation.  With your
assistance and prayers, we will overcome all the
obstacles.  Praise God!

                        Yours for OUTREACH Amazon,
—Erwin and Jean Bourne

Here is a portion of a letter from dear friends in the
states which is:—
A NOTE OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Dear brother and sister in Christ,
You have been sending me several emails lately, as my
daughter Melissa gave you my email address.  Maybe you
remember us.   We pray for you daily, and will never
forget your great sacrifice and labor of love for the
lost in South America.  May God richly bless you and
sustain you in this very difficult time, and grant you
the needed strength to go on.  The scripture says,
When thou passeth through the waters, I will be with
thee, and through the rivers, they shall not overflow
thee. Isa.43:2a  Also, My grace is sufficient for
thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
Most gladly therefore, will I rather glory in my
infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon
me.  2 Cor. 12:9. God has promised not to put more on
us than we can bear, but my grandfather used to say,
we may have ALL we can bear.  Cheer up, cheer up, the
storm is almost o'er!  We are in this thing together,
and that's why I am writing to encourage you just now;
I just read your e-mail about your eyesight, dear
brother, and may God really manifest Himself to you
just now.  You have fought long and hard for Him, and
He knows just what you need just now.  Lean hard on
Him; He is never too busy to help you!  We just sent a
check to your home address to help out in the mission
work.  Just use where it is needed most.  God be with
you, and if we don't meet again on this earth, may we
meet in heaven! Thanks so much for the touching emails
you have sent me; we really do appreciate them.
Deepest Christian love and prayers,

          (Friends of AMA Missions)
