B0BBY JINDAL'S TESTIMONY

I doubt that you know who Bobby Jindal is but this is his
testimony and it is wonderful.  Jindal is a young man, very young man, who is running for Louisiana Governor.  What is remarkable about him is - -

1) his youth
2) his family is from India
3) he is extremely intelligent

4) he is committed to serving Christ

Mr. Jindal was born in the U.S. and was raised in Baton Rouge. I am thrilled that a man of this calibar may become our next governor. It is so past the time to get the "good old boys" out of our politics.  Louisiana for many years has been a laughing stock. Anyway, I thought you might find this
interesting.  If California can have Mr. Schwartzennager (or however it is spelled), Louisiana can have Mr. Jindal.  Election day is Nov 15.

Subject: Bobby Jindal's Testimony

MY COMMITMENT TO OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

By Bobby Jindal

Many people know about my education, my work in state government, and my service to President George W. Bush.  But I also believe it is important for the people of our great state to know more than just the resume of a candidate for Governor.  People need to know what is in a person's heart and what makes them tick.

My faith in Jesus Christ is central to who I am.

Like many people, in my early years I took a rather carefree
attitude about matters of religion, not paying much attention to spiritual things. I have always believed in and prayed to God, but my faith life seemed centered on my asking God for things.  It was not until my grandfather died that I began to seriously consider the questions of life, death, and the
possibility of life after death.

Fortunately for me, my best friend growing up had the courage of his convictions, and the courage to talk to me about his faith in Christ. He gave me a Bible for Christmas and told me that I could be spared an eternity without God.  Initially, I did not pay any attention to what he said, thanked him for the Bible, and promptly laid it aside to gather dust. Soon after that, I met another very smart and gifted friend who also tried
to open my eyes to the truth of Christianity.  She told me that her life's goal was to become a Supreme Court justice so that she could protect the lives of the unborn. At the time, I did not fully understand her motivation. I agreed with her concern for the unborn, but I did not really grasp the reason for her staunch convictions.  She simply told me that it was a result of her faith in God, and her realization that all people are created by God and made in His image.  I admired her sincere love for
others, and wanted the peace that both she and my best friend had. I decided that I needed to better understand the source of her conviction, and that I needed to explore the truths which she and my friend had so aggressively communicated to me.  In short, I felt like I needed something that they had, but I did not really know what it was.

Soon after, I dusted off that Bible that had been given to me as a Christmas gift, and began searching the scriptures, almost as if I was trying to do some investigative reporting.  My life has never been the same.

The truth and power of the Bible gripped me instantly.  I agreed to go to Church with my friend, where I heard the gospel message communicated in a musical.  It was simple and exciting, yet profound.  I began to meet with the youth pastor of the church, and I had a lot of questions.  He took time to explain to me who Jesus Christ is, his mission on earth, and his promise to me.

Confronted with my sin and unbelief, I knew that I had a decision to make, and I made it.  I acknowledged that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God", and that "the wages of sin are death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."  As I made my profession of faith I felt, for the first time, an assurance of my destiny, and an understanding of the love of God.

In the days ahead I faced many of the problems that other Christians have faced.  It was difficult for some of my family and friends to understand or accept my new found faith in Christ.  I also wrestled with various theological perspectives in my early years as a Christian, and at times forgot the clarity and simplicity of my early conversion, but have come to
understand that John Wesley was right when he said, "in the essentials unity, in the nonessentials freedom and charity."

With the great moral challenges facing our state and our nation I believe it is imperative that the Christian community be unified, focusing on the essentials of our faith, such as salvation by grace through faith and understanding that the Bible is God's word and that it is true.

I had the great opportunity to spend time with President George W. Bush over the last two years in my position as his Assistant Secretary for Health and Human Services.  In my opinion, he is a great and humble man of God and his faith is real and genuine.  He is a true leader and a blessing to our
nation.

If I am fortunate enough to be elected as your next Governor you can rest assured that I will not lose perspective and that my decisions will not be made without the benefit of prayer.  Like the President, "I am not ashamed of the Gospel", or of my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I have been honored to share my testimony with others, and feel called to be a witness to others as my friends shared their faith with me.  If you would like me to share my faith experience with your church I would love to  do so. I would also covet your prayers for me as I embark on this campaign.

Thank you and God bless.
Bobby Jindal
