THIRSTY FOR THE SPIRIT
![]() JOHN 7: 37 - 39
37 On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as[3] the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.
===================================================================== What a promise! Jesus told his followers that after his resurrection from the dead, God's Spirit would permanently dwell inside of them. The longing for lasting meaning and eternal significance inside every man can't be satisfied with external things like money, fame, power, position or even religious activity. But those who know Jesus will find internal--and external--fulfillment. Here Jesus promises that the indwelling Holy Spirit will be like a spring of water that quenches their greatest thirst.
Thank God for giving you his Spirit. Ask him to give you the wisdom you need to draw on the Spirit's power when you're weak and on his comfort when you're down.
