GOOD ADVICE
MEMOR John 2:5: His
mother saith unto the servants,
Whatsoever he saith unto you, do
it.
Jesus performed his first miracle
at a wedding in Cana of Galilee.
Weddings are great occasions but
are sometimes prone to problems.
At Cana, the problem was a
shortage of wine. Mary told Jesus
about it and then said to the
servants, "...WHATSOEVER HE SAITH
UNTO YOU, DO IT." Her advice is
still wise counsel today.
If you decide to do whatever
Jesus says, you will have to begin
where you are. The waterpots
that would hold that miracle
product were right there in front
of the servants. Some dream of
doing great things for God in
other lands or in some distant
part of our country. And they may.
But not unless they begin where
they are. That is always God's
order for service.
If you decide to do whatever
Jesus says, it will involve labor.
Jesus said, "Fill the waterpots
with water." That meant work.
Nevertheless, they obeyed Him and
filled them to the brim. I know of
no lazy successful servant of God.
There are no shortcuts to
spirituality or fruitfulness.
Serving God requires hours of
energy, as well as an investment
of talents and abilities.
If you decide to do whatever
Jesus says, it will demand faith.
The Saviour's instruction to the
servants was: "Draw (some) out
now and bear unto the governor of
the feast." At their last
look, that liquid had been water.
Each step toward the host was a
step of faith, yet they went
without delay. And their faith was
rewarded.
If you truly decide to do whatever
Jesus says, you will become part
of a miracle -- His miracle of
direction and power in your life. |
