HAPPY EASTER!
March 31, 2002
To all our Dear Family and Friends,
On this joyous Christian holiday, Jean and I would
dearly love to attend the morning worship service with
you wherever that might be. Doubtless you will have
all the grandchildren dressed for the occasion, and we
could do some picture taking for display back down at
the Casa Grande mission home. However, this is just
the traditional side of Easter. It’s the Risen Lord
we are commemorating—and because He lives, we can live
also. Christ’s resurrection is an historic fact. It
assures our faith of eternal life both here and
hereafter.
But Jean and I must face realities. We live in a
third world country. Leticia, Colombia is not
Florida, nor Colorado, nor Alaska, nor Indianapolis.
However, the inspiring truth is that all God’s
children will be caught up in the resurrection to be
forever with our Lord. There’ll be no caste system in
heaven. We’ll all be of one blood—saved by the blood
of God’s Son, Jesus who died, rose again, and
intercedes for us in heaven.
We don’t want a one of you to miss it. While we work
amongst the indigenous peoples of Amazonas, we also
pray for all of you. Your names are mentioned in the
predawn hours out on our river-front veranda as we
prepare for each new day. Today, the 25th, is Shane’s
19th birthday. Our oldest son will be 44 on March 30.
Glenna, our oldest daughter, will be 41 on the 4th of
April. This means we’ll soon celebrate our 45th
anniversary. God bless all our Christian family.
There’ll be a grand reunion one of these days. May
the circle be unbroken.
