For thus saith the high and lofty
One that inhabiteth eternity, whose
name is Holy, I dwell in the high
and holy place, with him also that
is of a contrite and humble spirit,
to revive the spirit of the humble,
and to revive the heart of the
contrite ones (Isaiah 57:15).
Eternity escapes our power of
reason. Because we are creatures of
time, everything seems to need a
beginning and an ending. Our great
God is eternal...Isaiah says He
inhabits eternity. We live in the
twentieth century. Someday a
gravestone may mark a birth date and
a date of death for most of us. God
needs no such memorial. He has
always existed...He will always
exist...And He is
alive...forevermore.
The miracle of this great truth is
that He cares about us. In his book
Isaiah, Alfred Martin says,
"Earthly sovereigns are thought of
as dwelling with the exalted and
proud ones; the great Sovereign of
all dwells with the humble believer.
This is a consolation and an
encouragement to the trusting heart.
There is a danger, however, that the
believer will fasten his thoughts on
himself rather than upon God; then
he loses his humility. A real
glimpse of God, such as Isaiah has
described from his own experience in
chapter 6 will provoke contrition
and humility."
Now consider this shocker: The
Eternal One offers eternal life on
the basis of faith, alone. The One
who originated all the complex
formulas of physics that students
ponder and scientists use to reach
the far areas of space has made
eternal life available on such a
simple basis that children
understand and accept it: the basis
of faith...trust in the Lord Jesus
Christ. And this is the record,
that God hath given to us eternal
life, and this life is in his Son
(1 John 5:11).
Trust in Christ today and receive
ETERNAL life.
