“If Christ had not covered us with his grace, each of
us would be overdrawn on our heavenly bank account.
When it comes to goodness, we would have insufficient
funds. Inadequate holiness. God requires a certain
balance of virtue in our account, and it’s more than
any of us has alone. Our holiness account shows
insufficient funds; and only the holy will see the
Lord. What can we do?” —Max Lucado.
Our Brother Max has a keen insight into our spiritual
bank account. I readily agree with him. But let me
talk about our financial bank account. Jean is our
missionary accountant here in Leticia. It gives her
headaches. If she could just withdraw $500.00 in the
morning using her new Visa ATM card, she would have
$1,100.00 worth in pesos. This would go a long way in
meeting expenses.
“When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you’d like to smile. But you
have to sigh.
When cares are pressing you down a
bit,
Then rest if you must—but don’t
you quit!”
Jean has tried to encourage both of us by realizing
that here in Leticia, Colombia, we have already
received between a million and a million and a half
worth of real estate. God never has failed us yet!
We are expecting some $32,000.00 for the purchase of
“The White House” as a base in Iquitos, Peru. The
possibilities are positive! And we of AMA mission
are anticipating a large, new church to be built on
the estate of the Casa Grande.
Missionary Jean dearly loves her secretary work at the
large desk in the front office. And I dearly love to
write on the computer in my office just off Jean’s big
office. My “Messages of Encouragement!” go out on the
World Wide Web, WWW.SOMEBODYCARES4U@CS.COM. “It is
not that we think that we can do anything of lasting
value by ourselves. Our only power and success come
from God” (II Corinthians 3:5 NLT).
