I AM HEAVENBOUND
by Erwin Bourne

We are eternity bound souls. We have a heaven to gain
and a hell to shun. God is full of mercy, yet sworn
to justice. He has made us free-moral agents. He
does not send people to hell—He sends sinners to hell.
Hell was not made for mankind, but for the devil and
his angels—“Away with you, you cursed ones, into the
eternal fire prepared for the Devil and his demons”
*Mt. 25:41 NLT). Man must make his choice to go to
heaven by believing in Jesus Christ who said, “I am
the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to
the Father except through me” (John 14:6 NLT).

The question has been asked, “Isn’t there more than
one way to get to heaven?” If, by that, you are
asking which religion is right? or which church should
I attend? these are rather broad statements. No
religion can get you to heaven, and no “church” can
save your soul. Jesus said, “I am the gate. Those
who come in through me will be saved” (John 10:9 NLT).
Let’s go back to verse 1: “I assure you, anyone who
sneaks over the wall of a sheep-fold, rather than
going through the gate, must surely be a thief and a
robber!”

Now open your Bible to Luke 13:23: Someone asked him,
“Lord, will only a few be saved?” He replied, “The
door to heaven is very narrow. Work hard to get in,
because many will try to enter, but when the head of
the house has locked the door, it will be too late….
“I tell you, I don’t know you. Go away all you who do
evil.”

Years ago when I was doing missionary work in Mexico,
it was my lot to travel thousands of miles in Mexico
and the U.S. with a fellow missionary. We were in
conventions and camp meetings together. Howbeit, I
was very troubled at times by his attitude and
behavior. He was an elderly man when he parted this
world. I was told that when on his deathbed, he cried
out in agony to those who were wanting to pray. “It’s
too late. Don’t pray. My feet are already in hell!

Dear friends, When my life’s work is over, I want to
hear my Savior say, “Well done. Good and faithful
servant….. Come and share your Master’s happiness!”
