Our Love Life
People talk a lot
about love, but few have a clear
idea of what true love really
looks like. That is why Jesus goes
to such great lengths to explain
the Father’s love. His
explanations include stories about
a missing sheep, a lost coin, and
a prodigal son returning home.
From our Lord’s teachings, we see
the following ingredients of the
Father’s love that we can show to
others.
1. His love
is unconditional. It is a love
that has no fine print, rules, or
regulations. He loves us without
needing to experience anything in
return. God is love and He does
not change.
2. His love
is not determined by feelings He
has for us, but by His own
decision to love every one of us.
The Lord does not base His
love on anything having to do with
us, but rather He bases it on His
own attributes, nature, and
character.
3. His love
is more than a decision. It is
a commitment as well. Because our
heavenly Father genuinely loves
us, He is committed to our
happiness, our security, and our
well-being.
4. The
Father’s love includes a constant
reminder that we belong to Him.
We are totally accepted into
His family and into His presence.
Because He loves us, He wants us
to feel at home with Him.
5. God’s love
gives our lives a sense of worth
and meaning. He gives us tasks
to accomplish and the ability to
work for Him. He is delighted to
see our successes as we use the
talents He has given us |
