I had a dream. I was standing in a huge storage room with someone I
assumed to be Jesus. The room was full of shelves stacked up as far as I
could see with brightly wrapped presents of various shapes and sizes.
Jesus told me to take my pick, I could have as many as I wanted. There
was one condition, He told me that one of the gifts had to be opened before
the others and pointed at a box on a lower shelf.
There were other people of every age, background and race in the room
and each had been told the same thing. There were more languages being spoken
than I could even begin to count, and each of us had similar looking boxes to
choose from.
I opened a huge box that Jesus said must be opened first. I had to
stoop a little to reach it. The gift was salvation.
Some people got angry that He told them they must open a specific box
first and refused to open any of the presents. Some didn't "feel like"
opening gifts at that moment and refused. Many picked salvation as well then
left with it under their arms leaving behind the rest of what He offered.
There were boxes with peace, joy and contentment on the shelf. After I
opened the presents I could easily reach, I began to think strategically.
There were gifts that were too high for me to reach and some down below
towards the bottom. The gifts on the bottom were dusty looking and the ones
up top were bright, new and shiny.
People around me kept trying to get to the presents on the upper
shelves. They climbed and scrambled but kept falling. They tried teaming up
to build human pyramids but the boxes always seemed beyond their reach.
I sat and began to ponder how to reach those shiny gifts without
falling. While I was thinking, I decided to open a dusty gift from the bottom
shelf.
It contained a ladder.
I slowly began to understand that those who kept trying pride fully to
reach up for the gifts on their own power would never get there. We need to
get down on our knees in the dirt to reach the good stuff.
It's God who provides the gifts and we need to become humble to reach
them
Are you trying to be a better Christian on your own power? You'll never
make it! Sooner or later you will fall.
The Only way is to walk in humble, obedient submission and let Him make
the changes and provide the gifts.
How's your humility?
Until next time, join me in repenting of pride and get down on our
knees in the dust. Our job is to be obedient; it's He who will lift us up.
Be blessed.
Hallelu Yah (Praise God)!
