The Rescue

I watched the documentary about people who work on rescue teams that go into disaster areas. They are equipped and ready to go at a moment's notice. If there is an earthquake, a bombing, a flood, an avalanche or other disaster they're off. Their job is demanding, emotionally devastating and rewarding. Many times they pull out more corpses than they rescue but still they go on.

There are other rescue workers who go into action on a daily basis. They work in the military; the police; the coast guard; search and rescue; the fire department; health care and more. A big part of their role is to save lives.

Most children go through phases of wanting to be some kind of rescue worker. They recognize the inherent value in those kind of roles. I haven't met too many children who at some point didn't want to be a fireman, a policeman, a doctor or nurse. Of course, not every child holds to that dream for we're all called to differing roles and given different gifts. I am thankful for those who do have the gifts, personality and desire to take o those jobs.

I'm grateful for all those who work in those positions. They are often unsung heroes who are under appreciated. To all of you I say thank you for your dedication, your courage and you willingness to tackle what sometimes is an impossible task even at risk to yourself.

I'm even more grateful for the biggest rescue worker of them all. Jesus rescues us from our sins. There is no rescue worker like Him.

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.
Acts 4:12 NIV

He rescues us even knowing that we would throw ourselves into harms way again.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 NIV

Once He's rescued us, we're rescued for good.

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are one.
John 10:27-30 NIV

Until next time, spend some time thanking your ultimate rescuer.

Hallelu Yah (Praise God)

Be blessed

Kevin
