Seeking the Lord
Have you ever
experienced a spiritual “dry spell” when you
couldn’t sense God was real, your prayers fell
flat, and the Bible seemed like nothing more
than black print on white pages? If during
those times you were keeping a diary, you
might have discovered that the dry spells
occurred when your mind and heart were focused
on someone or something other than the person
of Jesus Christ. The remedy for such spiritual
droughts is learning how to seek the Lord in a
scriptural manner.
Throughout the
Bible, we are admonished to seek Him. Seeking
means that we desire Him, hunger for Him, and
long to grow in intimacy with Him. It does not
mean going to the Lord laden with requests so
we can get our needs met. Seeking Him may
include needs and requests, but it goes far
deeper. It means building an intimate
relationship where the focus is not just
getting our “things,” but being satisfied with
Him.
One way to seek God is by developing a
continual subconscious awareness of Jesus’
presence. You can’t consciously be thinking of
Him every moment, but if you are a believer
and know what it means to walk in the Spirit,
Jesus will always be there—an underlying sense
of His presence will remain, even when you are
meticulously engrossed in something else. Set
your heart to avoid any kind of relationship,
pleasure, or experience that leaves Him out.
Instead, seek the Lord fully; you will be
wholly satisfied and richly rewarded.
DO YOU ?
Do you ever feel
discouraged and dissatisfied? Do you ever have
feelings of unrest and fear of the future?
Does the thought of death and the hereafter
haunt you?
YOU ARE
Are you
looking for an unconditional love? Someone who
accepts you where you are and loves you no
matter what? Look no further than a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he
cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7 NIV
Never let the enemy tell
you that you re worthless or insignificant.
You have value in the eyes of God so great
that it was worth dying for. You are a
blessing to the world.
Did you know God's
forgiveness and unconditional love is
available for anyone who asks?
