I was busy cleaning
up my office recently. I had some old
paperwork that needed to be destroyed.
I piled it all up, the when I was
ready, ran it all through the
shredder. After I was done, it would
take a master puzzle builder a lot of
effort to reconstruct any of the
pages.
Sometimes it
feels as if we've been through life's
shredder. We face failure, ridicule;
financial ruin; poor health;
deteriorating relationships and so
much more. Sometimes we find our
character being assassinated, our
integrity being challenged and our
words twisted. Those things are a part
of life in a fallen world.
Different people
get shredded at different times and in
different ways. Sometimes the
shredding is a direct consequence of
our sin; sometimes it's a satanic
attack; and sometimes it is the result
of the sins of others. They attack out
of jealousy, resentment and hurt. At
times we have no idea where it comes
from.
What do we do
when we're being shredded?
We lean on him.
Come to me,
all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest. Take my
yoke upon you and learn from me, for
I am gentle and humble in heart, and
you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is
light."
Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
We trust.
Let the
morning bring me word of your
unfailing love, for I have put my
trust in you. Show me the way I
should go, for to you I lift up my
soul.
Psalm 143:8 NIV
The LORD
himself goes before you and will be
with you; he will never leave you
nor forsake you. Do not be afraid;
do not be discouraged."
Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV
Let the
shredders come on! My Lord will carry
us through it all and on to victory
and eternal joy. He will never leave
us. He will never be unfaithful.
Until next time,
rejoice that we serve a faithful God.
