Gleanings From The Word

Experience an extraordinary God in ordinary Life

Spiritual Laundry

Our house is like that of any other family. It seems that the loads of laundry never end. Contrary to the opinion of some, it's nothing magic. You don't just put your dirty clothing aside and wait for it to be replaced by fresh newly cleaned clothing. Someone actually has to wash, dry and fold the laundry.

Tackling the laundry this morning, I noticed that some of my whites weren't quite as bright as they could be. In fact they were almost getting grey. It was time to work some laundry magic and brighten them up again.

I haven't yet found a way to make doing laundry a spiritual experience, other than to do it, and everything else to the glory of God.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24

When we become Christians and give our sin over to Jesus, we get washed cleaner than snow. We're washed whiter the bright kind of snow that dazzles the eyes and is almost hard to look at.

Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Psalm 51:7 NIV

"Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. Isaiah 1:18 NIV

We start out with nice white robes. We trample through the dirt, we wander into places that we shouldn't. We fudge and fib. We drift from God. We go through the motions of worship. We get complacent about prayer and indifferent about our Bibles.

It isn't long before those fresh white robes look pretty tattered, torn and filthy. Somehow they even make us feel dirty on the inside.

Like laundry, they don't just get clean again by themselves. Someone has to handle our spiritual laundry.

When we've stumbled and rolled in the dirt for a while, it's time to give it up to our forgiving Lord once again.

Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD"-- and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Psalm 32.5 NIV

He is faithful to do load, after load, after load of our spiritual laundry. It never gets too bad for Him to clean. There are never spots and stains left behind; it always comes out brilliant white an as good as new.

What color is your spiritual laundry?

Until next time, take it to the master and have it cleansed again. Be made new and fresh all over again.

Be blessed.

Hallelu Yah (Praise God)!

Kevin

YOU ARE

Once you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are abounding in hope.

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV

Never let the enemy tell you that you are worthless or insignificant. You have value in the eyes of God so great that it was worth dying for. You are a blessing to the world.

There's nothing you can do that is so bad that Jesus can't forgive you. Whatever baggage you are carrying, whatever dirt is in your life, He can make it clean and light. He can give you hope. All you have to do is accept His love.
