The melting snow
had created a huge puddle behind the
storm sewer. During the night a thin
skin of ice had formed over the top of
it. I didn't think much about it when
I drove off to run a few errands. When
I returned a while later two girls,
maybe ten or twelve years old had
discovered the puddle.
They were being
typical kids and playing in the
puddle. They broke the ice and were
just having a good time splashing
around. Until they realized that I had
seen them. Then they got very
embarrassed and walked away. I guess
they thought they were too old to be
playing in puddles, even if it was
harmless fun.
We often let the
fears of what others might think
inhibit us far too much. It's a
valuable fear if it keeps us from sin,
but so much of it is misplaced
emphasis on man's opinion.
We don't sing
with enthusiasm at worship because
we're not gifted singers. We don't
pray out loud because our prayers
aren't "churchy" enough. We don't
share our testimonies because we don't
speak well. We don't take on roles
that God has called us to because we
don't feel worthy or that we don't
think we do well enough.
There is much in
life and in the church that we miss
out on because of our fear of what
other's think. It's time to lighten
up!
God loves you.
Nothing pleases Him more than seeing
His children participating with all
their heart in worship. If you've ever
watched the proud parents at a
children's performance, you have a
taste of how much God enjoys seeing
you give your all for Him.
He doesn't
expect perfection. He just wants to
see you give it your all.
This morning's
verse is written in the context of
owners and their slaves, but it is a
solid Biblical precept for all of life
and including worship and service for
the Lord
Whatever
you do, work at it with all your
heart, as working for the Lord, not
for men, since you know that you
will receive an inheritance from the
Lord as a reward. It is the Lord
Christ you are serving
Colossians 3:23-24 NIV
In your praise,
prayer and worship, go ahead and give
it all you've got. He's worthy of it.
Until next time
may you praise with all your heart.
Hallelu Yah
(Praise God)
Be blessed
