Worker Beheaded
Shopian (Jammu Kashmir in India), April 16, 2007: One of the active members of
the SVM (underground) House Church in Kashmir was brutally murdered on
Saturday, the 14th of April in India.
Manzoor Ahmad Chat, 33, beheaded by Hizbul militants on Saturday before
dawn and police recovered the head and the remaining part of the body
from Gundi Pora and
Pinglana villages
in Pulwama District.
Manzoor and family were believing Jesus Christ from Islam and attending
prayers of the Salem Voice Ministries (Underground) House Church. He was
the one leading the prayer section.
And also Manzoor
was a Government employee as a
lineman of the Power Development Department (PDD) in the Kakapora area.
On Friday he has gone by his Scooter No. JK13 7831 for the
duties. While he was going he met two believers and reminded them about
the prayer meetings. But on the way he had been kidnapped by the
militants, police suspects.
On Saturday people of the Pinglena village found the headless body from
a nearby paddy field. Also found the head kept in a polythene bag near
the mosque.
Militants had a plan to kill him earlier. A gunbattle between militants
and armed forces had taken place at Manzoor's house last year. He
seemed to have been brutally tortured and finally slaughtered to death.
Police registered a case and investigations have been launched. The dead
body was handed over to the family after the post mortem.
By this time police killed two leaders of the militant group
Leshkar-e-Toyiba.
Rev. Paul Ciniraj, the President of the Christian Ministers of the
Churches in India (CMCI) and also the Director of the Salem Voice
Ministries condemned the murdership of Manzoor Ahamed. Also he
congratulated the State and Central governments for the quick action
against terrorists and the continuous fight against terrorism.
Pray for the widow and children of the Martyr Manzoor Ahamed Chat.
Four months ago Evangelist and Campaigner Basheer Ahamed Tantry, who was
also a government employee (engineer) was shot dead in Kashmir in front
of the public during the day time.
Pastor Ashir of the SVM Underground Church in Kupwara in Kashmir was
severely attacked on last month.
