WORTH

\

I could see you shaking though I could not see you at all
I could feel the pain your voice without hearing you speak
I could see your mind racing with your back against the wall
I could feel the loneliness in your movements so weak

You poured out the situation on my battle-tested mind
You thought I'd tell you something to put your mind at ease
Your words and my past fell into one, aligned and entwined
My mind went blank; my thoughts buckled as if knees

You told me how scared you were of loosing yourself
I always knew what to say, I had always had some advice
But at the moment I had none; for you or myself
My blank stare and comforting look had to suffice

I sat there and stared at the wall I was facing towards
As if I was pondering life's existence on the stars
My yearning for words soon turned to rewards
I knew how I had felt when I had the same scars

Those scars were faded now; gone with the hour hand
But the memory of emotions will always live on
Your self-confidence was shrinking, I understand
You did not know where to place your worth upon

I told you what I knew and I knew what I told
You can't place your worth in the flawed human soul
The mind bends, emotions change, solid lives fold
With your worth in people, your life will never be whole

God is the answer he is always the one resolution
He is the one thing that will never hurt your emotions
Placing your worth in him is the life giving solution
Find this truth, set aside all earthly man made notions
To find worth in yourself through the almighty one
