WOW! What a testimony!
Dear Vern, I read the book you sent me with great interest and finished it in one night. Just couldn't put it down. WOW! What a testimony! It takes courage to tell people about the foolish things we do.
I too had a problem with cocaine and I know how hard it is to get off of and the damage and havoc it wreaks on a life. I came to a point where I was spending the night in an Apartment complex storage room smoking my last little bit of crack and feeling sooo alone and like a piece of human garbage.
I was so depressed I couldn't stand myself, but all I kept thinking about was how can I get some money to buy more crack. Thank our Lord I did not resort to crime and after coming out of that storage room the next morning I vowed I would never touch the stuff again...
Well, that didn't last long because next paycheck I was back at it. God had to be watching out for me because I was going into some very dangerous places to get crack, when finally I was mugged and nearly killed.
That finally did it. I haven't touched it in seven years and have absolutely no desire to.
Jesus came into my life and gave me a new resurrected soul because I was spiritually dead, just like Lazarus, and since that day I have no desire for the party life. I quit smoking cigarettes and I quit drinking. I have a strong desire to know God's Word and to serve him however I can and to not sin. The flesh lusts against the spirit and that will go on till I die or Jesus comes back as it will for all His people.
But we can certainly encourage each other and your testimony did that for me. I now know someone just like me and I'm sure there are others but although I've never met you I feel like you are a friend. I pray that God blesses you immensely along with your whole family. I'm so glad God saved your marriage, you look very happy on the back of your book.
